About Jennifer

Hello everybody.
Welcome to my personal blog. I’m Jennifer, by the way. It feels really awesome to be writing my first post to you. To be quite honest with you, I never thought I would come this far. I’ll be honest; setting the blog up, well, that part was quite easy. After all, like most of you out there, I work with a laptop every day of my life; sometimes deep into the night, depending on whether I have to prepare for week-ending deadlines, or whether I have been inspired by a new project.

My procrastination in setting up this blog in the sense of finding things to write about and settling on a theme with accompanying sub-themes was quite ironic. You see, I am a project manager by trade. Along with this, I am a life skills and coaching practitioner. It was only in the last twenty years or so that this particular field of work really caught fire and, in direct context with the world of the internet and now, social media sites, my newfound profession became something of a trend.

I am by far not the only one who has set up a practice as a life coach. Today, as you well know, if you really set your mind to something, you can be anyone you choose to be or do anything you darn well please. Just as long as it is legal, mind you. Nevertheless, no matter what opportunistic trade it is, do you not agree that there are just too many fly by night businessmen and women out there? There are still too many people chancing their arm at things, well, that they had no business doing in the first place.

I mean, think about it this way. Imagine being operated on by someone who says she is a doctor but is nothing of the sort. She may well have read and observed things, such being her conning talent, but she never spent a day in medical school. That, I think, is quite scary. And what I think is scarier nowadays is the fact that there are more women out there trying their luck. I honestly thought that we women were better behaved and knew better.

Never mind all that. On to the blog. Oh, and yes, I am qualified to do what I do. I have a degree in communications with psychology as one of my majors. On a personal level, I have always been something of an optimist but never an opportunist. I believe in doing the right thing and, God forbid, I may now be one of the few women out there who actually still believes that honesty is the best policy. I try to motivate some of my clients in that direction.

Anyway, it seemed quite ironic for me to be puzzling at this stage over what to publish on this blog. Given what I do for a living, it should have been easy as pie. But it never is, is it. So, here is what I did. I did two things, actually. First I took not one but two power naps. This was something of a first because I do not usually do day naps, although I have been known to recommend this to some of my clients. But being young and restless, I could not sleep a wink.

So, I did one of the things I do best. I took myself out for an inspirational walk, out in the forest and far, far away from the madding crowd as the story goes. And then it all came to me in spurts. As I said from the outset, this is a personal blog. So, expect me to talk to you on a personal level on a variety of things that interest me both personally and professionally. If you detect a little bit of preaching on my part, then forgive me. That would be something of an occupational hazard, I guess, given what I do to pay the bills and all.

I thought I’d give you a list of things I’ll be chatting about but then I thought, why not surprise you all. Read on and find out about what I have to say about things we may have in common.
